Expectant ParentsHaving your first child is an exciting time in life! It can be confusing too. We can offer assistance with what questions to ask a pediatrician or childcare provider. Help you with the 'must haves' for your baby registry, and discuss any concerns you may be having about becoming a new parent.
New Parents
Sometimes it takes a while for a parents 'natural instincts' to kick in when they come home from the hospital after having a baby. We can assist in basics of newborn care such as bathing, changing, umbilical cord and circumscison care. We can provide support for stay at home moms. Discussing concerns of child development and other issues.
Experienced parents
Most parents get frustrated at times and wonder if there is something lacking in their parenting skills. We offer in home services to observe you with your child/children and family dynamics. We help guide you to establish positive changes until your goals are reached. We can discuss concerns and frustrations. Weekly phone calls and emails.
Monthly coaching
For this, we come to your home and and discuss your concerns. We then observe you with your children for approximately an hour. During the observation period you can ask questions, but we do not intervene during any confrontations between you and your children. We simply observe and write down my observations. We do not judge your parenting style/means of discipline. We will be making notes to determine what we are observing and how we can help you reach your goals. We then determine how many visits should occur. These visits can be weekly or bi-weekly and last from 30-60 minutes or longer. They can be in a variety of settings that is convenient for you or a setting where you are having challenges with managing your child's behavior, such as a grocery store, playground or restaurant.
Private Consulting
Sometimes a parent who is frustrated may just need an unbiased sounding board. Whether you are stressed out, experiencing "Bad Mommy Syndrome" feel like your child 'isn't like other children,' you feel inadequate next to other parents, or maybe you feel that the teachers at school are unfair or 'don't get' your child. We're here for you to talk to. Sometimes a parent just needs to be validated that they are on the right track. You can discuss concerns you are having and we can offer professional guidance on being an effective advocate for your child. This service can be provided over the phone, via emails or in your home. All sessions are confidential.
